Tradeshows are a Great Source of Info for Agents

I’ve attended quite a few conferences and trade shows in my time, and I think it’s important for agents to regularly attend these local events. There are several benefits of attending – first and foremost being the opportunity to get a leg up on your competition by keeping up with the latest trends in the business. It’s also a great time to network with other agents to find out what’s working (and not working) for them.

Trade shows are a particularly effective way to meet vendors whose products/services may benefit you. And let’s not forget all of the freebies and prize drawings! At the very least you’ll probably walk out with a reusable bag full of desktop trinkets, and you may even be the lucky winner of a gift card or electronic device!

Showcase Trade Show

I’m excited about the upcoming 11th Annual Showcase Real Estate Trade Show on Aug. 25, presented by the Atlanta Board of REALTORS® and FMLS. This conference is held at the Cobb Galleria Centre, and will feature a broad selection of essential industry seminars, items, services, and tools.

This year’s special speakers include Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Research at the National Association of REALTORS®, and U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson. I look forward to seeing lots of our Metro Brokers agents in attendance, as usual.

REtechSouth and Agent Reboot

As a real estate marketing professional, it’s especially important for me to stay up to date on the latest trends and technology. Some of my favorites from this year so far are REtech South (also known as RETSO), and Inman’s Agent Reboot.

RETSO is known for its enlightening panel discussions, dynamic speakers and workshops. In a nutshell, RETSO is about delivering the technological tools and knowledge to help agents and brokers become more effective in their businesses. This two-day conference is usually held every year at the end of March.

At Agent Reboot (presented by Inman News), agents learn from the best experts in the industry how to make mobile, social, video, blogging and many more cutting-edge technologies to work for them. This one-day conference is sort of a crash course on the tech tools agents need. The name “reboot” is appropriate; agents leave the conference feeling recharged and ready to put their newly found knowledge into practice.

Other Trade Shows

Real estate-specific conferences and trade shows are an obvious choice to put on your calendar, but have you ever thought of going to a trade show that’s more lifestyle focused? Maybe a bridal show, or home and garden show? Get creative, and set up a booth at these types of trade shows to attract potential clients. Some BHGRE Metro Brokers agents I know had great success at a Bridal Show!

Will I see you at Showcase 2011?

What’s your favorite tradeshow or conference to attend in Atlanta? In the United States?
