Finding That Perfect Home Handyman
 A good, all-around repair or “fix-it” person can be a lifesaver for any homeowner. Finding the right one can be difficult, because they are in demand. I’ll give you some suggestions of how to locate your handyman, but I’ll begin by suggesting that you call me. I often hear of recommendations from my clients. I’d be happy to pass them on to you. That way you’ll be considering someone who is “tried and true.” That said, if you want to look on your own, here are some tips: Go online: Increasingly, there are lots of online lists of handymen. You can check Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor, Houzz, Nextdoor.com, Thumbtack or Yelp, for starters. They maintain lists of pre-screened pros and often post user reviews or client testimonials. Friends and co-workers: Put the word out with your friends. If they are homeowners, chances are they have used handymen. Their recommendation is an automatic referral/reference. Your local hardware store: They may have a personal recommendation or a bulletin board with notices on it of people who live and do home repair in your neighborhood. It’s getting harder to find a “jack-of-all-trades.” You may need more than one. Many of my clients have a general handyman, but they also use specialists that are electricians, plumbers, pool cleaners, lawn care experts, carpet or hardwood installers, or furniture repair experts.
